What is yours, what is mine, and what is ours? In this class, students will create collaborative tapestries that resemble a dialogue of shapes or a conversation in color. Students will find inspiration in their own personal spaces, living rooms, and homes to make works that welcome each other in. Make creative decisions together to create large tapestries and learn how to use natural dyes and sewing techniques to make compositions with fabric. We will explore and find inspiration in the work of artist duo Celeste, based in Mexico City and exhibited at The Contemporary Austin’s downtown Jones Center.
All supplies provided! Please wear appropriate clothes for an art studio (dress for mess!). Closed-toe shoes are recommended for all classes and required for wood, metal, stone, or other sculpture classes.
