Four Post-Impressionist painters—Paul Cézanne, Georges Seurat, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin—took Impressionist ideas into four completely different directions, giving rise to the major movements of modern art. We will explore how Gauguin perceived his world, using flat shapes of color and symbolism to express his vision of Tahiti, where he spent much of his time. His colorful vision inspired artists to work symbolically, leading to Surrealism, which led to many contemporary symbolist and conceptual art movements. Join us to explore Gauguin's exciting perception!
